events

CLAS fosters community through events, exhibitions, and informative materials, aiming to deepen appreciation for calligraphy and lettering among enthusiasts and the public.

agm day

CLAS’s Annual General Meeting occurs every March at Regent’s University London, featuring a morning session exclusive to members and open activities for non-members and friends for the rest of the day.

Attendees can connect with the CLAS Committee, enjoy calligraphy demonstrations, a keynote lecture, an art exhibition, and shop for calligraphy supplies. It’s a vibrant gathering for calligraphers and artists of all levels, both locally and internationally.

art & the letter

The Art & the Letter Exhibition is an annual showcase at the CLAS Annual General Meeting day and online, welcoming submissions from all CLAS members, calligraphers, and lettering artists.

Each participant can submit one piece for free, with topics announced in summer and a submission deadline in early February. Entries receive feedback from esteemed calligraphers, with special recognition and certificates awarded to standout submissions.

letters hand made

In commemoration of CLAS’ 30th anniversary, we are thrilled to announce a special travelling exhibition featuring fresh creations by both national and international lettering artists from within our esteemed CLAS membership.

This captivating showcase will journey across four diverse venues throughout the UK, offering a unique opportunity to unveil and celebrate the remarkable talents thriving within our community.

festival of calligraphy

The CLAS Festival of Calligraphy promises an enriching week filled with fresh calligraphic adventures. Typically held in August, the event accommodates 80 participants across five concurrent workshops running from Monday to Friday, led by renowned tutors offering diverse courses in lettering and related arts.

While there will be no Festival in 2024, preparations are already in motion for the highly anticipated 2025 edition, featuring esteemed national and international tutors, engaging workshops, and an exceptional venue offering comfortable accommodations and delectable cuisine.

affiliated groups day

Previously known as CLAS Regional Day, the Affiliated Groups Day isn’t bound to a fixed location or annual occurrence. CLAS actively seeks to engage various regions across the country, providing members with opportunities to participate in a nearby Regional Day while discovering different parts of the country simultaneously.
