CLAS Fellows
Susie Leiper
I came to calligraphy through the back door. Inspired by the arts of China while living in Hong Kong, I taught myself to write western calligraphy with Chinese brushes and to use the Chinese materials that I love. Three amazing years as a scribe on Donald Jackson's St John's Bible imposed on me a strict calligraphic discipline which has given my own work a far greater freedom and confidence.
In 2006 I was elected a Fellow of both the Calligraphy and Lettering Arts Society and the Society of Scribes and Illuminators, and a Full Member of Letter Exchange.
