CLAS AGM 2017 was held at
the British Library, London, on March 11th 2017

Highlights included:

  • A wonderful afternoon Lecture 'Meetings with remarkable manuscripts' was delivered by Dr Christopher de Hamel, internationally celebrated lecturer on medieval manuscripts.
  • Chairman Janet Mehigan opened the day with her annual report.
  • Jan Pickett was our Honoured Fellow in Residence.
  • Rosa Garavaglia demonstrated Brushd Lettering
  • An exhibition, with comments, of all the entries to Art and the Letter.
  • A display of photographs of work submitted in 2016 for the National Diploma.
  • An exhibition of work from recent Certificate of Competence courses.
  • CLAS sales.
  • There was a 10% discount voucher for the British Library Bookshop, to named ticket holders for the day.
  • Cornelissen had a discounted selection of their calligraphy and artists materials.

  • The Afternoon Lecture: “Royal Manuscripts” - a talk by Dr Scot McKendrick,
    Head of Western Heritage Collections at the British Library.
  • Chairman Marion McKenzie opened the day with her annual report.
  • Janet Mehigan was our Honoured Fellow in Residence.
  • Jan Pickett demonstrated 'Decorated Lettering'
  • An exhibition, with comments, of all the entries to Art and the Letter.
  • A display of photographs of work submitted in 2014 for the National Diploma.
  • An exhibition of work from recent Certificate of Competence courses.
  • CLAS sales.

CLAS AGM 2014

The AGM was held at the Conference Centre of the British Library on
Saturday 15th March 2014

Highlights included:

  • The Afternoon Lecture: “Pen in Hand: pictures of the scribe at work through the ages” - a talk by Ewan Clayton MBE, HFCLAS, Visiting Professor in Art, Design, Media and Culture at the University of Sunderland.
  • Chairman Marion McKenzie made a special presentation to Viva &
    David Lloyd
    , who were leaving the committee after many years of loyal service.
  • Ann Hechle was our Honoured Fellow in Residence.
  • Rosella Garavaglia demonstrated pointed brush lettering
  • An exhibition, with comments, of all the entries to Art and the Letter.
  • A display of photographs of work submitted in 2013 for the National Diploma.
  • An exhibition of work from recent Certificate of Competence courses.
  • CLAS sales.
  • Bring and Buy.
  • There was a 10% discount voucher for the British Library Bookshop, to named ticket holders for the day.
